New Ally - St Mary’s School, Frensham
St Mary's Church of england infant school our latest ally

Plastic Free Farnham are delighted to announce their latest ally: St Mary’s School, Frensham.
St Mary’s Church of England Infant School has signed the plastic free pledge making them the first school in Farnham to join a growing list of allies including the Maltings, the Lions, Roundtable and the Hedgehogs. When signing the pledge, allies commit to removing three single use plastics from their day-to-day operations. Mrs Dodgson, Eco Lead for St Mary’s had noted that in recent years the amount of single use plastic coming into the school particularly in school lunches had gradually increased and the Eco Council intended to promote alternatives. As well as reducing single use plastics in the school, the Eco Council at St Mary’s get involved in litter picks on Frensham Common and were all very aware of the problem single use plastic causes to wildlife and the environment and the need to reduce it where possible.
Plastic Free Farnham is a voluntary group of Farnham residents who, with the support of Farnham Town Council and Rotary Clubs of Farnham, aim to have Farnham accredited as a “Plastic Free Town” as defined by the charity Surfers against Sewage. Plastic Free Farnham encourage local organisations, clubs, schools and businesses to reduce their reliance on single use plastic and to improve their local environment. Surfers Against Sewage currently have over 700 communities in the UK working towards 'plastic free status'.
Plastic Free Farnham would love to hear from local groups, schools or independent businesses interested in reducing single use plastic and helping Farnham achieve “Plastic Free Town” status. They can be contacted at
plasticfreefarnham@gmail.com and can provide a list of swaps you can make in your business or organisation. If you would like to follow them, they are also on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
