Morgan's the butchers go plastic free

Plastic Free Farnham is delighted to have Morgan’s of Farnham join their growing list of local, independent businesses who have qualified for single-use plastic free status via the Surfers Against Sewage campaign.

In order to achieve this status, the team at Morgans has swapped single-use plastic carrier and produce bags for paper bags and the staff have given up single-use plastic water bottles in favour of reusable ones.

Morgan’s first butchers shop opened in 1966 in London before relocating to Alton and then Petersfield. Today, in Farnham, the third generation of the family holds the same values of product quality and customer service as the original.  Located on Ridgway Road, Farnham, Morgan’s is an independent, family-run business selling quality meat and deli products.  All of Morgan’s products come from ethical producers that care not just about quality and taste, but also the welfare of their livestock. Their farm suppliers are properly accredited and award winning with the highest standards in animal husbandry, health & safety.

Plastic Free Farnham are hoping to encourage community groups and organisations to get involved in the fight against avoidable single-use plastics.   If you would like a member of Plastic Free Farnham to come and talk to your group, school or organisation to explain how to reduce single use plastics, please contact us.

Farnham has become the first community in Surrey to receive Plastic Free Community status from Surfers Against Sewage in recognition of the town’s efforts to reduce plastic use. Farnham and Bordon MP Greg Stafford praised the achievement and hard work of local people which included volunteers, businesses, organisations, schools and residents. He highlighted the support of Tice's Meadow Nature Reserve which signed the Plastic Free Pledge.
